Navigating research Writing (NRW) is a short course aimed at prospective students who've been out of academia for a while, or who are starting out on their postgraduate research journey and who want to re-orientate themselves to what it will take to do a postgraduate degree.

Book launch - Surfacing Possibilities

Surfacing Possibilities offers a case study of an effective education development initiative at a South African university. It focuses on the challenges faced by first generation undergraduate students who come from a diversity of linguistic, social and cultural backgrounds and have often experienced disadvantage. There is a focus on harnessing student agency and not working with a deficit model.

New book supports newcomers

A revised learning guide with tips for new students was launched at UCT recently.

The third edition of Studying at University: A guide for first-year students, is geared towards humanities students, but is a valuable resource to arm freshers with general skills required to cope with their studies and academic assignments.
